LOCOMOTIVE 202

A historically significant last remaining Western Maryland Railway K2 Mainline "Pacific" Steam Engine. Built in 1912 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works Company based out of Philadelphia and Eldersberry, Pennsylvania, the engine was originally coal burning and was converted to oil combustion in 1947 amidst the coal shortage due to WWII. In 1953 the passenger engine was retired to Hagerstown, Maryland, a town where the locomotive made many trips to and from Baltimore.For over 70 years Locomotive 202 has stood on static display at the Hagerstown City Park as a monument and reminder of the rich railroad history and heritage of the area.
